DESCRIPTION

This role supports the day-to-day operations of the unit, including troubleshooting, ad hoc projects and other duties as required.

You will collaborate with Investment Technology and Investments teams, as well as external clients, service providers, consultants and vendors, to deliver business-as-usual activities and projects that meet the Plan’s evolving requirements.

Critical duties must be completed the same day. This position carries a high degree of responsibility because transaction values are significant and errors may result in substantial, potentially unrecoverable losses for the fund.

Daily Investment Finance Operations

  • Complete the day’s critical priorities.
  • Coordinate work to meet deadlines.
  • Identify, analyze, respond to and resolve issues and problems.
  • Determine and implement appropriate solutions.

Controls and Information Verification

  • Ensure internal control standards are met.
  • Ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Check and reconcile information for accuracy.
  • Follow up on and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain current documentation.

Project and Change Support

  • Contribute positively to project delivery and change-management initiatives.
  • Liaise with Investment Technology, Investments and other teams as required.
  • Coordinate activities and tasks related to system upgrades, new releases and bug fixes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide information to and request information from internal clients and established external suppliers, such as custodians, counterparties and systems providers.
  • Investigate how systems handle products, including testing issues and new systems.
  • Analyze and implement new processes and systems.
  • Maximize the use of technology across work processes.
  • Contribute constructive ideas related to financial operations.
  • Document processes and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of issues affecting operations.
  • Provide backup coverage for team members during absences.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant university degree in Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field; equivalent experience with Investment Finance processes will also be considered.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Investment Operations.
  • Collateral management experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess multiple factors and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills in Excel, VBA, SQL and Python, with an understanding of database concepts.
  • Knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external clients and suppliers.
