🌹 Happy Valentine’s Day 💕
Welcome to Valentine’s Day 2025! When I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of love, roses and my mother.
One of my favourite quotes from Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, which encompasses both love and roses, is as follows: “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other word would smell as sweet.” Juliet Capulet spoke on her balcony, comparing the handsome Romeo Montague to a rose. The “name” refers to the family rivalry between the Capulets and the Montagues.
In a previous article, I mentioned that my mother was a florist who owned and operated two flower shops, Flower World in Moncton, New Brunswick on Saint George Street and at the Moncton Hospital. Valentine’s Day is one of the year’s busiest days for a florist. I wanted to share the significance of the various colours of roses on a handwritten note from my mom.
Pink – You are gentle, graceful, lovely
Red – I love you
Yellow – Joy, friendship
Pink and White – I will always love you
Red and Yellow – Congratulations
Orange and Yellow – Passionate thoughts
Single rose – Perpetual love
Thornless rose – Love at first sight
On this Valentine’s Day, on behalf of my company, Direct IT Recruiting, I send you a virtual single red rose to express my love for you, my clients, candidates, friends and family. Thank you for your continued business, trust and love.
